Devotion to the Personal vs. Contemplation of the Imperishable
महर्षय: सप्त पूर्वे चत्वारोी35 मनवस्तथा । मद्धभावा मानसा जाता येषां लोक इमा: प्रजा:,सात महर्षिजन,* चार उनसे भी पूर्वमें होनेवाले सनकादि तथा स्वायम्भुव आदि चौदह मनुर--ये मुझमें भाववाले सब-के-सब मेरे संकल्पसे उत्पन्न हुए हैं, जिनकी संसारमें यह सम्पूर्ण प्रजा है
arjuna uvāca | maharṣayaḥ sapta pūrve catvāro manavas tathā | madbhāvā mānasā jātā yeṣāṁ loka imāḥ prajāḥ ||
قال أرجونا: الحكماء العظام السبعة، وكذلك المانو الأربعة في الأزمنة الأقدم—المتّصفون بطبيعتي—وُلدوا من ذهني وإرادتي. ومنهم نشأت هذه الكثرة كلّها من الكائنات في العالم.
अजुन उवाच
The verse teaches that the primordial sages and the Manus—sources of spiritual knowledge and human/social order—originate from the divine mind and share the divine nature; therefore, the world’s beings and institutions are rooted in a purposeful cosmic dharma.
Within the discourse on divine manifestations and origins, the speaker explains to Arjuna that the earliest progenitors (sages and Manus) arise from the divine will, and that all living beings in the world descend from them—linking metaphysical origin to the lived moral order.
