bhīṣmo vaḥ samare sarvān pālayiṣyati dharmavit | te bhayaṃ sumahat tyaktvā pāṇḍavān prati yudhyata |

Educational Q&A

Fear should be relinquished when one is committed to a duty-bound course of action; confidence is grounded not in arrogance but in reliance on a leader portrayed as dharma-knowing (dharmavit), whose protection stabilizes the community in crisis.

Sañjaya reports an exhortation to the Kaurava side: with Bhīṣma as their righteous and capable protector in the coming battle, they should abandon their great fear and engage the Pāṇḍavas in combat.
