Adhyāya 107 —
Multiple Defensive Engagements to Protect Bhīṣma
iti śrīmahābhārate bhīṣmaparvaṇi bhīṣmavadhaparvaṇi vārṣṇeyayuddhe caturadhikaśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ

This line is a colophon rather than a doctrinal verse; its ethical significance is contextual: it frames the narrative within the Bhīṣma Parva and the episode of Bhīṣma’s fall, reminding the reader that the war’s events are being organized and transmitted with attention to dharma, consequence, and the gravity of violence.
The text is marking the end of a chapter in the Bhīṣma Parva, specifically within the portion dealing with Bhīṣma’s downfall and an episode termed the Vārṣṇeya battle; it functions as a formal closure and cataloging note rather than advancing the plot directly.
