Pitṛ-śrāddha-haviḥ-phala-nirdeśa
Offerings for Ancestors and Their Stated Results
तस्माद् ये वै प्रयच्छन्ति सुवर्ण धर्मदर्शिन: । देवतास्ते प्रयच्छन्ति समस्ता इति नः श्रुतम्
tasmād ye vai prayacchanti suvarṇaṃ dharmadarśinaḥ | devatās te prayacchanti samastā iti naḥ śrutam ||
لذلك يُقال إن من كان بصيراً بالدارما فأعطى هبةَ الذهب فكأنما أعطى جميع الآلهة دفعةً واحدة. هكذا تلقّينا التعليم بالتقليد—إذ تُعَدّ هبةُ الذهب عملاً شاملاً من القربان المقدّس، يكرّم النظام الإلهي بسخاء العطاء.
वसिष्ठ उवाच
Gold-giving (suvarṇa-dāna), when performed by one who understands dharma, is praised as an all-encompassing offering—symbolically equivalent to giving to all the deities, because it supports sacred order through generous, righteous giving.
Vasiṣṭha is instructing about the religious-ethical value of dāna (charitable gifting). He asserts, as a received tradition, that donating gold is regarded as a comprehensive divine offering, emphasizing the merit and breadth of such generosity.
