Cyavana Explains His Tests; Kuśika Seeks Brāhmaṇya for His Line (च्यवन–कुशिक संवादः)

निश्चित्य मनसा सर्व गुणदोषबलाबलम्‌ | दग्धुकाम: कुलं सर्व कुशिकानां तपोधन:

niścitya manasā sarva-guṇa-doṣa-balābalam | dagdhukāmaḥ kulaṃ sarvaṃ kuśikānāṃ tapodhanaḥ |

قال بيشما: بعدما عزم في نفسه عزماً ثابتاً—إذ وزن جميع المحاسن والمساوئ، ومواطن القوة والضعف—اتخذ الناسك تشيافانا، وقد عقد النية على إحراق سلالة الكوشيكا بأسرها، قراره. فقد كان قد علم من قبل أنّه، بسبب حلف زواج مع فتاة من بيت الكوشيكا، ستنشأ في أسرته هو وصمة عظيمة تمسّ مقام الكشاتريا. وهكذا، بعد أن داول في باطنه ميزان الدharma في الأمر، أقبل الحكيم على الملك كوشيكا مدفوعاً برغبة أن يجعل عشيرته كلها رماداً.
