Viśvāmitra-janma: Ṛcīka–Satyavatī–Gādhi and the Charu Exchange
Viśvāmitraṃ cājanayad gādhibhāryā yaśasvinī | ṛṣeḥ prasādād rājendra brahmarṣer brahmavādinaṃ ||
The verse highlights that spiritual rank is not merely inherited but can be attained through divine or saintly grace and inner transformation—Viśvāmitra, though born in a royal line, becomes a brahmarṣi and a teacher of Brahman through the favor of a sage.
Bhīṣma recounts a genealogical-spiritual point: Gādhi’s renowned wife gives birth to Viśvāmitra, and through a ṛṣi’s blessing he attains the status of brahmarṣi and becomes a brahmavādin (one who teaches sacred truth).
