मनुष्यान् शिवमन्विच्छंस्तस्मादेष शिव: स्मृत: । अथवा उनकी जटाका रूप धूम्र वर्णका है
manuṣyān śivam anvicchan tasmād eṣa śivaḥ smṛtaḥ |
قال فايُو: «لأنه يلتمس للناس الخير والبركة (śiva)، لذلك يُذكَر باسم “شِيفا (Śiva)”.» ثم يوضح النص أن خُصَلَهُ المعقودة (jaṭā) على رأسه ذات لونٍ كالدخان، فلذلك يُدعى “دهورجَتي (Dhūrjaṭi)”. ولأنه، بمختلف ضروب الأفعال، ينهض بجميع الخلق ويقصد الخير للجميع، كان اسم “شِيفا” لائقًا به.
