This line is a colophon: it primarily signals the completion of a chapter within the Mahābhārata’s Anuśāsana Parva, specifically in the dāna-dharma section, and identifies the chapter’s theme as the dialogue between Umā and Maheśvara.
Bhīṣma’s discourse to Yudhiṣṭhira has reached the end of a chapter; the text formally closes the chapter titled “Umā–Maheśvara Dialogue” within the broader instructional material on the ethics and duties of giving.
