Śiva-nāmānukīrtana-prastāvaḥ
Prologue to the praise of Śiva and the Upamanyu testimony
sāvitrī brahmavidyā ca ṛtavo vatsarās tathā | kṣaṇā lavā muhūrtāś ca nimeṣā yugaparyayāḥ ||
The verse emphasizes the all-encompassing nature of the supreme reality: sacred revelation (Sāvitrī/Gāyatrī), liberating wisdom (brahmavidyā), and the entire structure of time—from tiny instants to vast yuga-cycles—are understood as contained within, or dependent upon, that ultimate principle.
Vāsudeva is listing revered forms of knowledge and the full spectrum of temporal measures to show that what he is describing is not limited to one domain; it spans ritual sanctity, spiritual insight, and cosmic order, integrating human religious practice with the universe’s time-cycles.
