भीष्म उवाच
The passage teaches that disciplined, sustained Vedic observance—especially Agnihotra combined with regulated fasting and pure havis-based diet—yields exalted spiritual merit, culminating in attainment of higher realms and receiving honor befitting one’s dharmic conduct.
In Bhīṣma’s instruction on dharma, he describes the reward for a specific vow-like regimen: the practitioner reaches divine worlds (of the Maruts, Uśanas/Śukra, and Brahmā), where celestial maidens ceremonially honor him by offering a seat and service.
