This verse is a colophon rather than a doctrinal statement: it teaches how the epic is organized and signals closure and transition. By formally ending the chapter, it frames the preceding material as part of the origins-and-lineage narrative that underpins later discussions of dharma and kingship.
The chapter concludes. The text identifies the work (Mahābhārata), the larger book (Ādi Parva), the subsection (Sambhava Parva), and the chapter number (87), noting that it concerns the Uttarayāyāta episode; it then marks the end of that chapter.
