Duḥṣanta–Śakuntalā: Gandharva Marriage and Succession Condition

दिते: पुत्रस्तु यो राजन्‌ हिरण्यकशिपु: स्मृतः । स जज्ञे मानुषे लोके शिशुपालो नरर्षभ:,वैशम्पायनजी बोले--नरेन्द्र! मनुष्योंमें जो देवता और दानव प्रकट हुए थे, उन सबके जन्मका ही पहले तुम्हें परिचय दे रहा हूँ। विप्रचित्ति नामसे विख्यात जो दानवोंका राजा था, वही मनुष्योंमें श्रेष्ठ जरासन्ध नामसे विख्यात हुआ। राजन! हिरण्यकशिपु नामसे प्रसिद्ध जो दितिका पुत्र था, वही मनुष्यलोकमें नरश्रेष्ठ शिशुपालके रूपमें उत्पन्न हुआ

diteḥ putras tu yo rājan hiraṇyakaśipuḥ smṛtaḥ | sa jajñe mānuṣe loke śiśupālo nararṣabhaḥ ||

قال فَيْشَمْبايَنَة: «أيها الملك، إنَّ الذي يُذكَر باسم هِرَنْيَكَشِبُو، ابنَ دِتِي، قد وُلِدَ ثانيةً في عالم البشر باسم شِشُوبَالَ—ثورًا بين الرجال».
