Jaratkāru’s Marital Compact and Departure
Sautir uvāca—te Takṣakasamādiṣṭās tathā cakrur bhujagāḥ.
The verse highlights obedience to a leader’s command; ethically, it invites reflection on whether loyalty and compliance absolve agents from responsibility for the outcomes of what they carry out.
The narrator Sauti reports that the Nāgas, upon receiving Takṣaka’s instruction, immediately executed it as ordered, moving the story forward from command to action.
