Ādi-parva Adhyāya 33: Vāsuki’s Council on Averting the Sarpa-satra
विष्णुना च तदाकाशे वैनतेय: समेयिवान् । तस्य नारायणस्तुष्टस्तेनालौल्येन कर्मणा,उस समय आकाशमें विनतानन्दन गरुड़की भगवान् विष्णुसे भेंट हो गयी। भगवान् नारायण गरुडके लोलुपतारहित पराक्रमसे बहुत संतुष्ट हुए थे
viṣṇunā ca tadākāśe vainateyaḥ sameyivān | tasya nārāyaṇas tuṣṭas tenāloulyena karmaṇā ||
وفي ذلك الفضاء بعينه لقيَ فايناتِيا (غارودا) الإلهَ فيشنو. فسرَّ نارايانا به سرورًا عظيمًا، لأن فعله كان شجاعةً لا تعرف الخوف، منزّهةً عن الطمع—إشارةً إلى أن القوة لا تكتسب قيمتها الأخلاقية إلا إذا لم تُسقها شهوةُ الذات.
