Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethic of reciprocity between devotion and divine response: sincere praise (stuti) is shown as efficacious, and the deity answers by restoring cosmic balance through rain-bearing clouds—suggesting that right relationship with the divine supports the welfare of beings.

After Kadrū’s hymn, Indra (called Harivāhana) manifests dark cloud-masses that cover the sky, indicating the onset of rains. This prepares the narrative context in which the serpents (Nāgas) become pleased/satisfied through the resulting rainfall.
