Educational Q&A

Ritual acts are not merely external; inner discipline and ethical restraint sustain one’s vitality. When propriety is disturbed, the consequence is shown as loss of radiance and well-being, prompting withdrawal from further indulgence.

The narrator describes a person who, after what has transpired, no longer wants to accept anyone else’s sacrificial offering. His body reflects the change: he becomes pale and lusterless, no longer shining as he once did.
