खाण्डवदाहे देवविमुखता तथा मयदानवाभयदानम् | Khāṇḍava Burning: Devas Withdraw; Maya Granted Protection

सत्कृतस्त्वत्कृते पार्थ: सर्वैरस्माभिरच्युत । न च सोऊहति तां पूजां दुर्बुद्धि: कुलपांसन:,“अच्युत! तुम्हारे संतोषके लिये ही हम सब लोगोंने अर्जुनका इतना सत्कार किया; परंतु वह खोटी बुद्धिवाला कुलांगार उस सत्कारके योग्य कदापि न था

satkṛtas tvatkṛte pārthaḥ sarvair asmābhir acyuta | na ca so 'ūhati tāṁ pūjāṁ durbuddhiḥ kulapāṁsanaḥ ||

قال فايشَمبايانا: «يا أتشيوتا، إنما كان إكرامُنا جميعًا لبارثا (أرجونا) على ذلك النحو الرفيع ابتغاءَ رضاك. غير أن ذلك الرجل—ذو الفهم المعوجّ، عارٌ على سلالته—لم يكن أهلًا لتلك التبجيل، ولا كان قادرًا أن يحتمل الشرف الذي أُسدي إليه أو يدركه على وجهه الصحيح».
