Garuḍa’s Birth and Vinatā’s Enslavement
शापमेनं तु शुश्राव स्वयमेव पितामह: । अतिक्रूरं समुत्सृष्टं कद्रवा दैवादतीव हि,इस शापको स्वयं ब्रह्माजीने सुना। यह दैवसंयोगकी बात है कि सर्पोंको उनकी माता कद्गरूकी ओरसे ही अत्यन्त कठोर शाप प्राप्त हो गया
śāpam enaṃ tu śuśrāva svayam eva pitāmahaḥ | atikrūraṃ samutsṛṣṭaṃ kadrvā daivād atīva hi ||
قال شَوْنَكَة: إن الجدَّ الأكبر (براهما) سمع تلك اللعنة بنفسه. وبمنعطفٍ عجيب من القضاء، نالت الحيّات لعنةً بالغة القسوة—صدرت من أمّهنّ نفسها، كَدْرُو.
शौनक उवाच
The verse highlights that harmful outcomes can originate from within one’s own family and that fate may operate through close relationships; therefore, ethical restraint and careful speech—especially in domestic conflicts—are crucial.
Śaunaka reports that Brahmā learned of the severe curse pronounced by Kadrū, and that the serpents, paradoxically, were cursed by their own mother through a turn of destiny.
