सुभिक्षाश्वैव पञज्चाला: श्रूयन्ते शत्रुकर्शन । यज्ञसेनश्व राजासौ ब्रह्माण्य इति शुश्रुम,शत्रुनाशन! सुना जाता है, पंचालदेशमें बड़ा सुकाल है (इसलिये भिक्षा बहुतायतसे मिलती है)। हमने यह भी सुना है कि राजा यज्ञसेन ब्राह्मणोंके बड़े भक्त हैं
subhikṣāś caiva pañcālāḥ śrūyante śatrukarśana | yajñasenaś ca rājāsau brahmaṇya iti śuśruma ||
قال فايشَمبايانا: «يا قاهر الأعداء، يُروى أن أرض البانشالا في رخاءٍ ووفرة، وأن الصدقات فيها كثيرة. وقد سمعنا أيضًا أن ملكهم، يَجْنَسِينا، مُخلصٌ في توقير البراهمة.»
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse links a kingdom’s well-being (subhikṣā) with righteous governance and reverence for sacred learning: a king who is brahmaṇya—supportive of Brāhmaṇas and dharmic institutions—helps sustain social harmony, generosity, and stability.
Vaiśampāyana reports information about the Pañcāla country: it is prosperous and known for plentiful alms, and its king Yajñasena is reputed to be devoted to Brāhmaṇas—setting Pañcāla as a favorable destination or ally within the unfolding events.
