Vasiṣṭhasya śokaḥ, Vipāśā–Śatadrū-nāmākaraṇam, Kalmāṣapādasya bhaya-prasaṅgaḥ (Ādi Parva 167)
तथेत्युवाच तं याजो राज्ञ: प्रियचिकीर्षया । तयोश्व नामनी चक्रुर्द्धिजा: सम्पूर्णमानसा:,तब राजाका प्रिय करनेकी इच्छासे याजने कहा--'ऐसा ही होगा।/ उस समय सम्पूर्ण द्विजोंने सफल-मनोरथ होकर उन बालकोंके नामकरण किये
tathety uvāca taṁ yājo rājñaḥ priyacikīrṣayā | tayoś ca nāmanī cakrur dvijāḥ sampūrṇamānasāḥ ||
فقال ياجا، كاهنُ القربان، رغبةً في إرضاء الملك: «ليكن كذلك». ثم إنّ البراهمة، وقد امتلأت قلوبهم رضًا وتمّ مرادهم، أقاموا مراسم تسمية الطفلين.
ब्राह्मण उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic social functioning: the priest acts with the intention to please the king within the bounds of ritual duty, and the Brahmins complete the saṁskāra (naming rite) with a sense of fulfilled responsibility—showing how intention (priyacikīrṣā) and proper performance of rites support order and legitimacy.
A priest agrees to the king’s request (“So be it”), and then the assembled Brahmins carry out the naming of two boys. The scene marks the formal social recognition of the children through a sanctioned rite.
