Saṃvaraṇa’s Collapse, Ministerial Aid, and Vasiṣṭha’s Approach to Sūrya
nedaṁ lobhān na cājñānān na ca mohād viniścitam | buddhi-pūrvaṁ tu dharmasya vyavasāyaḥ kṛto mayā ||
Ethical decisions should be grounded in clear understanding and deliberate reflection, not driven by greed (lobha), ignorance (ajñāna), or delusion (moha). The verse highlights right intention and reasoned commitment as marks of dharmic action.
Yudhiṣṭhira defends his chosen course of action by clarifying his motive: he is not acting from base impulses or confusion, but from a carefully considered commitment to dharma.
