Saṃvaraṇa’s Collapse, Ministerial Aid, and Vasiṣṭha’s Approach to Sūrya
तदहं प्रज्ञया ज्ञात्वा बल॑ भीमस्य पाण्डव । प्रतिकार्ये च विप्रस्य तत: कृतवती मतिम्,अतः पाण्डुनन्दन! मैंने भीमसेनके बलको अपनी बुद्धिसे भलीभाँति समझकर तब ब्राह्मणके शत्रुरूपी राक्षससे बदला लेनेका निश्चय किया है
tad ahaṃ prajñayā jñātvā balaṃ bhīmasya pāṇḍava | pratikārye ca viprasya tataḥ kṛtavatī matim ||
ولمّا تبيّنتُ بحُكمٍ جليٍّ قوّةَ بهيما، يا ابنَ باندو، عزمتُ عندئذٍ على إنزالِ الجزاء الواجب نصرةً للبراهمن—أن أُوقع بالرّاكشسا آكلِ البشر الذي صار عدوَّه ما يستحقّه. إنّها عزمةٌ موزونةٌ بميزان الواجب: حمايةُ الضعفاء وإعادةُ نظام الدَّرما، لا اندفاعٌ من غضبٍ مجرّد.
युधिछिर उवाच
Dharma-guided action should be grounded in discernment: after assessing capability (Bhīma’s strength), one should act to protect the innocent (the brāhmaṇa) and restore justice, treating retaliation as a moral remedy rather than personal vengeance.
Yudhiṣṭhira explains that, having understood Bhīma’s power, he has decided on a course of counter-action against the rākṣasa who threatens the brāhmaṇa—indicating a planned, responsible response to a predatory danger.
