पाण्डोः श्राद्धं, सत्यवत्याः वनगमनम्, बाल्यस्पर्धा च

तस्य कामात्मन: क्षेत्रे राज: संयतवागृषि: । कृष्णद्वैपायन: साक्षाद्‌ भगवान्‌ मामजीजनत्‌,उन्हीं कामासक्त नरेशकी पत्नीसे वाणीपर संयम रखनेवाले ऋषिप्रवर साक्षात्‌ भगवान्‌ श्रीकृष्णद्वैपायनने मुझे उत्पन्न किया

tasya kāmātmanaḥ kṣetre rājaḥ saṁyatavāg ṛṣiḥ | kṛṣṇadvaipāyanaḥ sākṣād bhagavān mām ajījanat ||

قال فايشامبايانا: في أرض ذلك الملك الذي كانت طبيعته محكومة بالشهوة، أنجبني الحكيم العظيم كريشنا-دْفايبايانا—ضابط اللسان، وهو حقًّا ذو صفة إلهية. ويُبرز هذا المقطع كيف يمكن للفعل المنضبط الموافق للدارما أن ينبثق حتى في موضع موسوم بالهوى، وكيف تُقدَّم العفّة وضبط النفس والقداسة بوصفها موازنةً أخلاقيةً للشهوة المنفلتة.
