पाण्डोः श्राद्धं, सत्यवत्याः वनगमनम्, बाल्यस्पर्धा च

वानप्रस्थजनस्यापि दर्शनं कुलवासिनाम्‌ | नाप्रियाण्याचरिष्यामि कि पुनर्ग्रामवासिनाम्‌,मैं वानप्रस्थ आश्रममें रहनेवालोंका तथा कुट॒म्बी-जनोंका भी दर्शन और अप्रिय नहीं करूँगा; फिर ग्रामवासियोंकी तो बात ही क्या है?

vānaprasthajanasya api darśanaṁ kulavāsinām | nāpriyāṇy ā-cariṣyāmi ki punar grāmavāsinām ||

«حتى أربابُ البيوتِ المقيمون في الغابة في مرحلةِ الفانابراستها (vānaprastha)، والذين يعيشون مع أهليهم، لن أقتربَ منهم بما يورثُ السخط. فكيف بأهلِ القرى؟ إنّ اجتنابَ إيذائهم أولى وأحرى.»
