अयाचन्त च मां राजन् वरं तच्च मया कृतम् । जाताउ्जातानू प्रक्षिपास्मान् स्वयं गड़े त्वमम्भसि
ayācanta ca māṃ rājan varaṃ tacca mayā kṛtam | jātaujātānū prakṣipāsmān svayaṃ gaṅge tvam ambhasi rājan |
قال فايشَمبايانا: «يا أيها الملك، لقد التمسوا مني حينئذٍ منحةً، فمنحتهم إياها. وكان طلبهم هذا: “يا غَنْغا، كلما وُلدنا مرةً بعد مرة، فأنتِ بنفسكِ اطرحيْنا في مياهكِ، يا أيها الملك.”»
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The passage highlights the binding power of a granted boon and the grave ethical weight of requests made to divine forces—once a vow/boon is accepted, its consequences unfold through repeated births and actions.
Within Vaiśampāyana’s narration to the king, certain beings request a boon: they ask Gaṅgā to plunge them into her waters each time they are born, and the narrator states that he granted this request.
