अनुक्रमणिकाध्यायः (Anukramaṇikā Adhyāya) — Invocation, Narrator Frame, and Textual Scope

तच्छलोककूटमद्यापि ग्रथितं सुदृढं मुने । भेत्तुं न शक्‍्यते<र्थस्य गूढत्वात्‌ प्रश्मनितस्थ च,मुनिवर! वे कूट श्लोक इतने गुँथे हुए और गम्भीरार्थक हैं कि आज भी उनका रहस्य- भेदन नहीं किया जा सकता; क्योंकि उनका अर्थ भी गूढ़ है और शब्द भी योगवृत्ति और रूढवृत्ति आदि रचनावैचित्रयके कारण गम्भीर हैं

tacchloka-kūṭam adyāpi grathitaṃ sudṛḍhaṃ mune | bhettuṃ na śakyate ’rthasya gūḍhatvāt praśamanitastha ca ||

أيها الحكيم، إن تلك الكتلة المتشابكة من الشلوكات ما تزال إلى اليوم منسوجة بإحكام لا يلين. ولا يُستطاع شقُّ سرّها، لأن المعنى مستكنٌّ في غاية الخفاء، واللفظ كذلك عميق—قائم على طرائق دقيقة في التعبير تُظهر بقدر ما تُخفي.
