من يلتزم بهذه الممارسة سنةً كاملة—فيأكل ليلاً فقط في كل يومٍ مقدّس عند مفاصل النصفين القمريين—ويثبت على البراهماجاريا، ويقهر الغضب، ويجعل تأمّل شيفا غايته، يصير أهلاً للربّ (پَتي). وبالزهد المنضبط تلين قيود pāśa التي تُوثِق النفس (paśu).
