meṣo vṛṣo 'tha mithunas tathā karkaṭakaḥ śubhaḥ siṃhaś ca kanyā vipulā tulā vai vṛścikas tathā
Suta Goswami
By listing the rāśis, the verse frames time and cosmic order as Śiva-governed (Pati), implying that Linga-pūjā aligns the pashu (soul) with the right kala (sacred timing) and dharma within creation.
It implies Śiva as Pati—the regulator of cosmic structures like rāśis and the flow of time—while pashus experience these patterns under pasha (bondage) until liberated by Śiva’s grace.
Jyotiṣa-based selection of auspicious times (śubha-kāla) for Śiva-pūjā and vrata is suggested; in a Pāśupata spirit, disciplined timing supports steadiness of mind and reduces pasha-driven agitation.
