Suta Goswami (narrating to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
It states the phala (result) of sacred recitation: by devotedly reading a holy Shaiva text with sankalpa, one gains swift spiritual and worldly attainments and becomes favored by the devas—supporting Linga-worship as a path of merit and grace.
Indirectly, it reflects the Shaiva Siddhanta principle that the bound soul (paśu) is uplifted through śubha-karma and devotion; the sacred word, aligned with right intention, becomes a means by which divine grace operates—ultimately pointing to Pati’s governance of merit and liberation.
Pāṭha (scriptural recitation) performed with uddiśya/sankalpa—dedicating the reading for a specific aim or person—an auxiliary practice that supports puṇya, purification, and readiness for deeper Shaiva sādhanā such as Pāśupata-oriented discipline.
