मृतधूमोद्भवं त्वभ्रम् अशुभाय भविष्यति अभिचाराग्निधूमोत्थं भूतनाशाय वै द्विजाः
mṛtadhūmodbhavaṃ tvabhram aśubhāya bhaviṣyati abhicārāgnidhūmotthaṃ bhūtanāśāya vai dvijāḥ
يا ذوي الميلادين، إن السحابةَ المولودةَ من دُخانِ الموتى تكونُ نذيرَ شؤم؛ والسحابةُ الناشئةُ من دُخانِ نارِ الأبهِتشَارا (السِّحر العدائي) تُنذرُ بهلاكِ الكائنات. وفي الفهم الشيفيّ، فإن هذه العلاماتِ التامَسِيّة تدلّ على أنَّ pāśa (القيد) يشتدّ على paśu (النفس المقيّدة) حين يُهمَلُ الدَّرْمَا وتُتركُ بوجا شيفا.

It warns that tamasic influences—death-associated smoke and hostile rites—manifest as inauspicious omens; the implied remedy is to return to sattvic Śiva-pūjā, mantra, and dharmic conduct so the paśu is protected under Pati (Śiva).
By contrast: Shiva-tattva is the purifying, auspicious principle (śiva = auspiciousness) that loosens pāśa; the verse highlights what happens when one turns away from that auspicious order—inauspicious nimittas and harm arise.
It implicitly cautions against abhicāra (harmful ritual magic) and points toward sattvic disciplines—Śiva-mantra japa, liṅga-arcana, and Pāśupata-style inner purification—to prevent tamasic downfall.
