kathitastava saṃkṣepād vivādaḥ kṣubdadhīcayoḥ prabhāvaś ca dadhīcasya bhavasya ca mahāmune
Suta Goswami
The verse functions as a narrative seal: it frames the episode as Shiva-mahātmya, implying that hearing and remembering Bhava’s prabhāva strengthens devotion (bhakti) and reverence toward the Linga as the manifest sign of Pati (Śiva).
By naming Śiva as “Bhava” and highlighting his “prabhāva,” the verse points to Shiva-tattva as sovereign, awe-inspiring potency—Pati who surpasses worldly disputes and whose presence sanctifies the entire account.
No specific rite is prescribed in this line; the emphasis is on śravaṇa (hearing sacred narration) and tapas-born prabhāva—key Pāśupata themes where inner discipline and devotion to Pati loosen the bonds (pāśa) of the pashu (soul).
