Haristuti-saṅgraha: Devatā–Ṛṣi Praṇāma, Nāma-māhātmya, and Vairāgya from Deha-āsakti

Garuda (Vinata-putra), addressing Lord Vishnu
Concept: Grace-centered devotion: only the Lord can remove saṃsāra’s impurity; divine discourse is the sustaining nectar; God’s guṇas are inexhaustible beyond praise.
Vedantic Theme: Bhakti as a direct means to purification (citta-śuddhi) and liberation; the infinite (ananta-guṇa) cannot be circumscribed by finite speech.
Application: Daily prayer for inner cleansing; consistent śravaṇa/kīrtana; cultivate humility (amānitva) and reliance on grace rather than self-powered merit.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: karuna
Related Themes: Garuda Purana: repeated emphasis on kathāmṛta and the Lord’s grace removing saṃsāra-doṣa; humility tropes in stuti sections.
In this verse, Garuda asks for continual access to divine teaching, presenting sacred discourse as 'nectar' that purifies the mind and supports liberation from saṃsāra.
Rather than describing post-death geography here, the verse frames the inner preparation: removing saṃsāra-mala (worldly defilement) through sustained listening to divine instruction, which is foundational for right conduct and higher states.
Regularly study and reflect on dharmic and devotional teachings, and consciously reduce habits that strengthen attachment—treating spiritual learning as a daily discipline for purification.
