Concept: Ananya-śaraṇatā (exclusive refuge) and ekatva (the One without a second) expressed through bhakti-laden non-dual language.
Vedantic Theme: Advaita-leaning ekamevādvitīyam orientation applied to Nārāyaṇa as the supreme reality; śaraṇāgati as means.
Application: Practice ananya-bhakti: reduce dependence on external validations; daily remembrance that the highest ‘need’ is alignment with the Divine.
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: shringara
Related Themes: Garuda Purana 3.6.58 (power of the name Nārāyaṇa)
This verse frames Vishnu as the sole necessity and ultimate refuge—beyond worldly aims—presenting devotion as complete dependence on the One Lord.
By asserting that only the Lord is truly real and sufficient, it points to liberation through single-pointed devotion and remembrance rather than reliance on mere names, words, or external supports.
Cultivate daily remembrance (nāma-japa), simplify desires, and align actions with dharma while treating devotion as the primary purpose rather than a means to secondary gains.
