Lord Vishnu (teaching Garuda/Vinata-putra)

Concept: Remember Hari as Śrīnivāsa during milk-rice; remember Veṅkaṭeśa when consuming well-cooked foods with good oil and ghee.

Vedantic Theme: Nāma-rūpa as accessible supports for the mind: the Lord as indwelling sustainer (Śrīnivāsa) and as temple-form (Veṅkaṭeśa) sanctifies nourishment and enjoyment.

Application: Before eating rich or carefully prepared foods, pause for a brief inner darśana of Veṅkaṭeśa; cultivate moderation with oily/ghee foods while keeping gratitude and offering-intent.

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: bhakti

Type: mountain/temple

FAQs

This verse teaches that eating should be sanctified by nāma-smaraṇa—remembering Hari (Śrīnivāsa) at appropriate times—turning a daily act into devotional discipline.

Rather than focusing on punishment or afterlife here, the text emphasizes preventative dharma: cultivating constant remembrance of Viṣṇu through ordinary routines, which supports purity of mind and right conduct.

Before or during meals—especially simple offerings like milk-rice or ghee-cooked food—pause briefly to remember or chant names such as Hari/Śrīnivāsa/Veṅkaṭeśa, and eat with mindfulness and gratitude.
