Vṛtrāsura Rebukes Indra; Heroic Combat and the Asura’s Pure Devotional Prayers
tena deva-gaṇāḥ sarve vṛtra-visphoṭanena vai nipetur mūrcchitā bhūmau yathaivāśaninā hatāḥ
This verse describes how Vṛtrāsura’s fierce outburst stunned the devas so completely that they collapsed unconscious, as if struck by a thunderbolt.
Because Vṛtrāsura’s sudden, violent expansion/bursting (visphoṭa) overwhelmed them, causing them to faint and drop to the ground.
Even the powerful can be shaken by unexpected force; steadiness and humility are essential, and one should seek inner shelter beyond external strength.
