य एतत् श्रावयेन्नित्यं यामक्षणमनन्यधी: । श्लोकमेकं तदर्धं वा पादं पादार्धमेव वा । श्रद्धावान् योऽनुशृणुयात् पुनात्यात्मानमेव स: ॥ ५९ ॥
ya etat śrāvayen nityaṁ yāma-kṣaṇam ananya-dhīḥ ślokam ekaṁ tad-ardhaṁ vā pādaṁ pādārdham eva vā śraddhāvān yo ’nuśṛṇuyāt punāty ātmānam eva saḥ
من يقرأ هذا البهاغافَتَم على الدوام في كل لحظة بعقلٍ لا يلتفت لغيره، ومن يسمع بإيمانٍ ولو بيتًا واحدًا أو نصف بيت أو شطرًا أو نصف شطر—فإنه يطهّر نفسه يقينًا.
This verse states that hearing with faith—even one verse, half a verse, or even a fraction—purifies the listener’s very self, provided the mind is undivided and attentive.
Because the purifying effect is not merely from sound, but from devotional hearing (śravaṇam) done with śraddhā (faith) and ananya-dhī (undistracted focus), which allows the Bhāgavata’s message to transform the heart.
Set aside a brief daily slot to hear or read even one Bhāgavata verse with attention and faith—consistency and focused listening are highlighted here as spiritually purifying.
