Bhāgavata-Māhātmya and the Complete Summary of the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam
harasya jṛmbhaṇaṁ yuddhe bāṇasya bhuja-kṛntanam prāgjyotiṣa-patiṁ hatvā kanyānāṁ haraṇaṁ ca yat
This verse notes that the Bhāgavatam recounts the episode where Bāṇāsura’s many arms were cut off during the Lord’s battle, highlighting the Lord’s irresistible power and His protection of dharma.
Śiva is mentioned because he took part in the conflict on Bāṇāsura’s side; the Bhāgavatam’s summary notes that even great devas are ultimately subordinate to the Supreme Lord’s will.
Remembering these episodes builds faith that the Lord can remove even overwhelming obstacles and protect the innocent—encouraging devotees to stay aligned with dharma and take shelter of nāma and bhakti.
