Kṛṣṇa Defeats Bāṇāsura and Receives Śiva’s Prayers
The Śoṇitapura Battle and the Jvara Episode
भज्यमानपुरोद्यानप्राकाराट्टालगोपुरम् । प्रेक्षमाणो रुषाविष्टस्तुल्यसैन्योऽभिनिर्ययौ ॥ ५ ॥
bhajyamāna-purodyāna- prākārāṭṭāla-gopuram prekṣamāṇo ruṣāviṣṭas tulya-sainyo ’bhiniryayau
فلما رأى بَاناسورا تدمير حدائق ضواحي مدينته وأسوارها وأبراجها وأبوابها امتلأ غضبًا، فخرج لملاقاتهم بجيشٍ مكافئٍ لهم عددًا وقوةً.
This verse shows Bāṇāsura becoming “possessed by anger” upon seeing destruction, illustrating how rage can drive one to confront the Lord and accelerate one’s downfall.
Because he saw his city’s defenses—gardens, walls, towers, and gates—being broken, and in fury he marched out with his forces to meet the attackers led by Kṛṣṇa.
When our “fortresses” (status, possessions, ego) feel threatened, anger can take over; the Bhagavatam urges restraint and humility rather than impulsive retaliation.
