The Slaying of Indrajit
ववर्षुःपुष्पवर्षाणितदद्भुतमिवाभवत् ।प्रशशंसुर्हतेतस्मिन्राक्षसेक्रूरकर्मणि ।।।।
vavarṣuḥ puṣpa-varṣāṇi tad adbhutam ivābhavat |
praśaśaṃsur hate tasmin rākṣase krūra-karmaṇi ||
They rained down showers of flowers—it seemed a marvel—and they praised the deed, now that the cruel-doing Rākṣasa had been slain.
With cruel minded Rakshasa killed, celebrities showered rain of flowers praising the wonderful deed.
Righteous action earns approbation: praise and blessings symbolically follow the defeat of cruelty and injustice.
A celestial flower-shower and acclaim mark the slaying of the cruel adversary.
Courage in the service of justice—ending cruelty—is treated as a deed worthy of public and divine praise.
