The Slaying of Indrajit
तयोस्तुधनुषीश्रेष्ठेबाहुभिःपरिघोपमैः ।।।।विकृष्यमाणेबलवत् क्रौञ्चविवचुकूजतुः ।
tayos tu dhanuṣī śreṣṭhe bāhubhiḥ parighopamaiḥ | vikṛṣyamāṇe balavat krauñcaviva cukūjataḥ ||
But when those two superb bows were drawn with great force by arms like iron bars, they rang out like the cry of krauñca birds.
Excellent bows of the two made noise like Krauncha birds while being drawn with great strength by the two, whose arms resembled iron bars.
Strength is framed as disciplined capability: Dharma in warfare values controlled power (skill, restraint, readiness), not uncontrolled violence.
Lakṣmaṇa and Indrajit simultaneously draw their bows, the sound signaling the imminent exchange of deadly missiles.
Vīrya (valor) guided by training—martial excellence expressed through mastery, not mere aggression.
