अतिकायवधः
The Slaying of Atikāya
तंभीमवपुषंदृष्टवारथस्थंरथिनांवरम् ।अभिपेतुर्महात्मानोयेप्रधानावनौकसः ।।।।
taṃ bhīmavapuṣaṃ dṛṣṭvā rathasthaṃ rathināṃ varam | abhipetur mahātmāno ye pradhānā vanaukasaḥ ||
Seeing him of dreadful form, stationed on his chariot—the foremost of chariot-warriors—the great-souled leading Vānaras rushed toward him.
Observing the dreadful enemy seated on the chariot, the foremost of the great Vanaras rushed towards him.
Dharma in battle includes protecting the community through courageous resistance; the leaders advance to confront danger rather than letting the many suffer.
The foremost Vānara warriors, recognizing Atikāya on his chariot, charge to engage him directly.
Bravery joined with leadership—frontline action by those responsible for the host.
