Hanuman Enters Lanka and Encounters Laṅkā-devatā
ततः संवर्तयामास वामहस्तस्य सोऽङ्गुलीः।मुष्टिनाऽऽभिजघानैनां हनुमान् क्रोधमूर्छितः।।।।स्त्री चेति मन्यमानेन नातिक्रोधः स्वयं कृतः।
tataḥ saṃvartayāmāsa vāma-hastasya so 'ṅgulīḥ | muṣṭinā 'bhijaghāna enāṃ hanumān krodha-mūrchitaḥ || strī ceti manyamānena nātikrodhaḥ svayaṃ kṛtaḥ |
Then Hanumān, overcome by anger, clenched the fingers of his left hand and struck her with his fist; yet, considering, “She is a woman,” he did not let his wrath become excessive.
Overcome by anger, Hanuman clenched the fingers of his left hand and hit her with his fist. Considering her to be, after all, a woman he did not turn outrageous.
