भैरवावतारलीलावर्णनम् (Bhairava-avatāra-līlā-varṇanam) — “Narration of the Divine Play of Bhairava’s Descent”
त्यज मायामिमान्देव दुस्तरामकृतात्मभिः । ब्रह्मादयो महादेव मायया तव मोहिताः
tyaja māyāmimāndeva dustarāmakṛtātmabhiḥ | brahmādayo mahādeva māyayā tava mohitāḥ
噢,主啊,请舍离此幻力(māyā)——对未能自制者而言,实难渡越。即便梵天等诸神,噢,大天(摩诃提婆),也被你的幻力所迷惑。
A devotee (a deva or sage) addressing Lord Shiva within the Shatarudrasaṃhitā narrative
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Mahādeva
Type: stotra
Role: teaching
The verse highlights Śiva as Pati (the Supreme Lord) whose Māyā veils even exalted beings, teaching that liberation comes through Śiva’s grace and inner discipline that makes one fit to cross the bondage (pāśa) of delusion.
By acknowledging that even gods are bewildered by Māyā, the verse encourages taking refuge in Saguna Śiva through Liṅga-worship—approaching the visible, compassionate form of the Lord for guidance and grace to transcend the veiling power.
Cultivate self-mastery (akṛtātman becomes kṛtātman) through japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” along with steady devotion; this is the practical means to weaken Māyā’s delusion and turn the mind toward Śiva.
