Nandikeśvara: Incarnation, Consecration, and Marriage—Description
एवं स्तुतश्चाभिषिक्तो देवैस्स ब्रह्मकैस्तदा । नन्दीश्वरोहं विप्रेन्द्र नियोगात्प रमेशितुः
evaṃ stutaścābhiṣikto devaissa brahmakaistadā | nandīśvarohaṃ viprendra niyogātpa rameśituḥ
如是,我当时蒙诸天与梵天同来赞颂并为我灌顶;噢,最胜婆罗门啊,承至上主帕拉梅湿伐罗之命,我成为难提伊湿伐罗(Nandīśvara)。
Nandi (Nandishvara)
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Paśupatinātha
Type: stotra
Role: liberating
It shows that exalted spiritual office in Śiva’s sphere (such as Nandīśvara) arises from Parameśvara’s grace and command, confirmed by divine praise and consecration—emphasizing bhakti, humility, and Śiva’s supreme lordship (Pati).
Nandīśvara is the foremost attendant and gatekeeper of Saguna Śiva’s worship; the verse highlights that all sacred authority around Śiva-worship is established by Śiva’s own will, supporting temple tradition where Nandi faces the Liṅga as the ideal devotee.
The verse points to stuti (hymnic praise) and abhiṣeka (consecratory anointing) as devotional disciplines; practically, devotees may perform Śiva-liṅga abhiṣeka with mantra-japa (especially the Pañcākṣarī, “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) in a spirit of service like Nandi.
