Nabhaga-Upākhyāna: The Account of Nabhaga and Shiva-Jñāna
tatra tvaṃ gaccha nabhaga tān suśaṃsa mahākave | sūkte dve vaiśvadeve hi satraṃ śuddhaṃ hi tadbhavet

It emphasizes śuddhi (purification) through right mantra and right intention—purity of rite and speech supports dharma and prepares the mind for devotion to Pati (Śiva), the supreme Lord.
While the verse speaks of Vedic purification of a satra, the same principle applies to Liṅga-worship: external sanctity (mantra, orderly rite) and internal sanctity (reverent praise) together make worship fit to receive Śiva’s grace in His saguna form.
A practical takeaway is mantra-śuddhi: recite authorized hymns with clarity and devotion before any Śaiva practice—such as japa of “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” applying tripuṇḍra (bhasma), or beginning a pūjā—so the act becomes spiritually purified.
