Suta Goswami (narrating the dialogue in context to the sages at Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Umāpati
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: liberating
The verse teaches that once Śiva-tattva (the supreme divine reality) is recognized, worldly resistance and ego-driven severity should be abandoned; aligning one’s will with Īśvara becomes the dharmic path.
Calling Śiva “Īśvara” emphasizes Saguna Śiva—the personal Lord who guides devotees. Accepting Śiva as the rightful Lord parallels accepting the Liṅga as the living emblem of Īśvara’s presence and authority.
A practical takeaway is tattva-smaraṇa (contemplation on Śiva as Pati/Īśvara) combined with japa of the Pañcākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” cultivating softness of heart and relinquishing harsh resolve.
