Tattva Level: pasha
Mantra: astra-mantra (protective weapon-mantra; text not quoted in verse)
Shakti Form: Durgā
Role: protective
It teaches that Śiva-pūjā should be approached through mantra-saturated purity and protection: mudrās and the Astra-mantra consecrate the worship-space and the offerings, removing obstacles so devotion (bhakti) becomes steady and sattvic.
In Saguna Śiva worship—especially Liṅga-pūjā—external acts like prokṣaṇa (sprinkling) and protective mantras prepare the upacāras (offerings) and the altar so the devotee can focus on Śiva’s auspicious presence without ritual impurity or distraction.
Perform mantra-nyāsa/abhimantraṇa, show Dhenu Mudrā and Śaṅkha Mudrā, then sprinkle (prokṣaṇa) with the Astra-mantra as a protective sealing of the rite before continuing Śiva’s worship.
