“如是,女神啊,应从南方起布置,直至以苏摩(月神)为标记的终点。在外层一行中,当依次描绘:自东方起,经由中段,至于末端,使其陈设分明而殊妙。”
Lord Shiva
Tattva Level: pasha
Shiva Form: Dakṣiṇāmūrti
Sthala Purana: Not a Jyotirliṅga episode; the verse gives directional/sequence instructions for a ritual diagram/arrangement addressed to the Goddess, typical of Āgama-style procedural teaching embedded in Purāṇic narration.
Shakti Form: Pārvatī
Role: teaching
It emphasizes that devotion (bhakti) is strengthened by disciplined order—worship is not random, but aligned with sacred directionality and cosmic harmony, expressing reverence for Pati (Shiva) through careful, mindful arrangement.
The verse gives procedural guidance for arranging elements around the worship-space (often the Linga and its associated offerings/markings). Such ordered placement supports Saguna-upasana—approaching Shiva with form, rite, and beauty—while cultivating inner steadiness that leads toward realization.
A structured puja layout: begin from the southern side and proceed in a defined sequence up to the lunar (Soma) end, decorating the outer row from east through the middle to the end—performed with mantra-japa (e.g., Panchakshara) and focused attention.
