Lakshmana Enters Kishkindha: Anger, Tara’s Mediation, and Sugriva Encountered
तदागच्छ महाबाहो चारित्रं रक्षितं त्वया।अच्छलं मित्रभावेन सतां दारावलोकनम्।।।।
tad āgaccha mahābāhō cāritraṁ rakṣitaṁ tvayā |
acchalaṁ mitrabhāvēna satāṁ dārāvalōkanam ||
因此,长臂者啊,请进来吧;你的操守已守护得周全。以朋友之心看望正人之妻,并非欺诳,也不失礼法。
'O long-armed one ! come in. You have been standing out guarding your character. It is not a mistake to see the wife of a pious person with a friendly feeling.
The verse highlights maryādā: propriety depends on intention and restraint—friendly, duty-bound interaction is distinguished from lustful or deceitful looking.
Tārā invites Lakṣmaṇa into the inner quarters, assuring him that his moral discipline remains intact and that her audience with him is proper.
