Tārā’s Lament over Vāli
evam uktaḥ samutthāya jagrāha caraṇau pituḥ | bhujābhyāṃ pīnavṛttābhyām aṅgado 'ham iti bruvan ||
Thus advised by Tara, Angada got up, clasped his father's feet with his stout arms, and saluted, saying, 'I am Angada.'
Dharma includes honoring one’s parents and elders; physical gestures of reverence (touching the feet) embody humility and rightful conduct.
Following Tārā’s instruction, Aṅgada approaches the dying Vāli and formally salutes him.
Humility and devotion—Aṅgada’s action shows filial loyalty and respect in a moment of loss.
